Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
TheHorn is built to keep what you say on your device. This page explains what the app does with your data.
What stays on your device
- Your voice. Audio is captured only while you hold the shortcut, transcribed on your device with Apple's speech technology, and kept in memory only. It is never written to disk and never uploaded.
- Your text. Transcripts and any rewrites are produced on your device. Rewrites use Apple's on-device language model.
- Session history is off by default. If you turn it on, records are stored only on that device and are deleted automatically after 30 days. You can delete them yourself at any time.
What syncs through iCloud
Your dictionary terms, rewrite styles and settings sync between your devices using your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database. This data belongs to your Apple ID. We cannot see it. Session history is never synced.
What we collect
Nothing. TheHorn has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The macOS app is sandboxed without network access, so it cannot send your data to us or anyone else.
Permissions
- Microphone: to hear you while the shortcut is held.
- Accessibility: to type the result into the app you're using, and to undo it. TheHorn does not read the content of your documents, and it will not type into password fields.
Children
TheHorn does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
